Pied piper-group task towns people

Townspeople group performance-

Whole class group performance-

What skills did I develop today ?

MORNING-

In today’s lesson we got placed in to groups and got given a stereotype from Mathew Bournes creation of the nutcracker.firstly as a class we watched some clips of Mathew Bourne work and how his actors and dances presented each of the groups of charecters,we could see from the videos how different  there personalities where for example the children were more over exaggerated and outgoing whereas the towns people where more professional and stubborn. All groups got given a prop, my groups prop was a broom head which at first we thought would be really difficult to dance with as we couldn’t picture many movements that could include and broom head but then when we started moving we realised that it was a lot easier then we thought and all we had to do was just imagine it was something completely different. We then got in to our group and listened to the piece of music that we had been given, from listening to the music my group and I realised that the dance would need to be quite slow and sharp with direct correlation,  so as a group we decided to get into pairs and create a 4 sets of 8 each and then after that we would show each-over what we had created in order to then put them together to join each-over towards the end of the piece. Personally I feel I worked well with my group I feel we all gave ideas and took each overs ideas into consideration but one thing we could all work on is communication I feel we had  so many good ideas in our heads but when it gets to actually putting them ideas together we just gave up and went with the easier option.

Some of the main skills we used where our characterisation skills and facial expressions,Mathew Bourne loves to over exaggerate his pieces so in order to get our character’s personalities across to the audience we had to really over exaggerate every thing we done. One thing I feel we were good at as a group was portraying our characters and our fluidity, we managed to make each of our moves flow into the next without creating a pause however one thing we could improve on is our timing at points are timing was okay but when we joined are pieces together the timing was a little of .

AFTERNOON-

In the afternoon lesson we began to put all of our scenes together as a class. We then started with a recap of what we already had of the pied piper and then went on to adding in our rats duets and the town’s people , children and the pied piper group performances.Putting all of the group performances into the pied piper piece  was really interesting as it was amazing to see what all of the other groups had also come up with in the time given. As a class I felt we worked really well in the afternoon as we knew that after we had put all the Things together our pied piper piece would be more fun and closer to completion.
